“Persons interested in adopting in Côte d''Ivoire must first identify a child available for adoption. This can be done with the assistance of the Ivoirian Department of Social Welfare, or by contacting directly the administration of an orphanage. There are many orphanages in Côte d''Ivoire, but not all children in the orphanages are available for adoption....The Consular Section of the U.S. Embassy maintains a list of attorneys fully qualified to handle
all legal aspects of international adoptions.”

Requirements:
Marriages with 5 years of coexistence
- Unmarried people ok
- Families with children are accepted, but priority is given to infertile couples.
Age of parents 30 years old, if married, at least one parent must be 30.  Parents must be at least 15 years older than the child they adopt.

Dossier
Translated into French. Authenticated by the Embassy of the Ivory Coast.
- Letter to the court of first instáncia, in which the total adoption of a boy or girl is asked for.
- Certificate of suitability (Home Study)
- Psycho-social Report
- Certificate of Birth
- Certificate of marriage (only for marriages)
- Faith of life and state, in case of unmarried people
- Official medical Certificate and medical certificate of infertility, in case this one is the reason for adoption.
- Criminal record
- Letter of recommendation
- Photograph of the applicants and their familiar surroundings
