Adopting from Congo (Democratic Republic)
                                                                                            last updated 5 May 2008

Note - There are two African countries that are called Congo.  The Republic of Congo gained it's independence in 1960 from France.  It was
called Middle Congo and is now sometimes called Congo (Brazzaville) after it's capitol city.  The other country is the
Democratic Republic of Congo
(formerly the Belgian Congo, also called Zaire between 1965-1996).  It is sometimes called Congo-Kinshasa, and is the larger of the two countries.
